Some volunteers from the KEH team partnered with an Atlanta-based no-kill animal shelter and pet rescue, PAWS Atlanta, to host an event on Friday, February 10th.
During our time there, we facilitated several different projects that PAWS Atlanta needed help with around their grounds. Two of our own brought photography equipment to capture moments in the Cat Cottage—a four-bedroom house where all the cats reside.
These photographs were given to PAWS Atlanta to use on their social media/website to spread the word about their cats that are available for adoption.
Two other volunteers helped with moving fence paneling and hauling away old kennels out of the quad—which helped to wrap up a small renovation project. Those volunteers also helped fix the gate hinge to a set of outdoor runs to ensure that the PAWS Atlanta animals stay safe and secure.
Lastly, four volunteers assisted with assembling supplies for the upcoming event “Dates with Dogs.”
This was the first time that PAWS Atlanta hosted this Valentine’s Day themed event.
Essentially, employees are paired with a dog for the day (9 dogs total) and are taken off-site on a field trip around the city. This may include bringing the dog for a walk on the Atlanta Beltline trail, or even going to a brewery with their companion.
The purpose of this event is to potentially facilitate these dogs being adopted from people meeting them during their field trip. The volunteers assisted with assembling tote bags for the employees to take with them on their dates for this event. These included toys, blankets, water bottles—all things that the dog may need on their field trip!
The KEH team had a great time volunteering with PAWS Atlanta, and we will definitely be back next year to continue assisting this amazing organization.
