3 Tips to Stay Organized and Efficient

There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to find something that you know you have, but you’re shuffling everything around and you still can’t find it. Add a client in there that’s waiting on you and that frustration can quickly get worse. This is why it’s very simple, but extremely important, to stay organized when you’re working. Whether I’m shooting film or digital, I’ve added 3 little things to my camera bag that keep me organized and efficient and I want to share them with you.
- Number Your Batteries – With just a few strips of gaffer’s tape, my batteries are all numbered and used chronologically. No juggling batteries, no guessing, just on to the next!
- Organize Your SD Cards – Once again, just making a couple of labels with gaffer’s tape, I know which SD cards are empty and ready to shoot and which ones are full. This is a great way to save time and also anticipate how much memory you have left to work with.
- Separate Your Film – Just two plastic bags and that’s all I need. One bag for unexposed and one bag for exposed. Doesn’t get much simpler than that!
It’s that easy! Nothing expensive, nothing complicated, just quick and easy steps to help you save time and your sanity when you’re on the job. The last thing you want is a client waiting on you while you fumble around with your gear. Do what you’ve gotta do and get back to shooting.
