Congrats to our Top Pic of the Week, Eric Wehrs! Using his Hasselblad 500 C/M, and the 80mm F/2.8 CF T*, using a white backdrop, and 1 or 2 Profoto D1 strobes, with Deep White Umbrellas, Eric captured these images. Read more below about the production of these photos.
I have been actively photographing for about 2 years, but have been obsessed with photography all my life. In middle school, I took my first community education class on darkroom photography, and have been hooked on film ever since then.
What I really enjoy about shooting with the Hasselblad 500 C/M over other systems is when taking portraits the models tend to relax more, than if shooting with an SLR. Having the photographer looking down into the camera, rather than directly at you, helps to make the model feel less like a subject being observed; giving images a more intimate feel. This is especially true when working with people who aren’t used to modeling in a professional setup.
Also, if I’m being honest, I’m a sucker for the large viewfinder on the 500 C/M!
Thank you again for allowing us to share these awesome images! If you’ve never captured images with a Hasselblad you are missing out on a fun ride! To view more of his images check him out on Instagram.
